Dr. Schmidt is an expert in East Africa fixed and mobile telecoms markets - Trends and developments, MobiPesa was founded 2013 with an aim of connecting Africa through various seamless mobile payment channels. MobiPesa is currently looking to evolve mobile-money platforms into integrated mobile financial systems capable of delivering multiple services to their customers. Dr. Schmidt recent research interests include mobile-broadband and mobile money strategies to grow mobile revenues in emerging markets. Prior to opening his own company Dr. Shmidt was a Wireless Training Engineer at Huawei Technologies Limited where he conducted training on wireless Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies and offered customer support on wireless equipment. He holds a Doctorate degree in Telecommunication Technology and honors degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Juliet Akoth is currently the PR Manager for Mejula Communications. She is responsible for leading Mejula's obsession on Customer Experience as a key differentiator of its overall company strategy. She is in charge of Consumer Business, Brand Marketing, Brand Experience, Digital Transformation, Sales & Distribution, Operations and Commercial Planning & Pricing.

She joined Mejula in February 2006 from Samsung and rose from the role of Prepay Product manager to Head of Retail, Director of Enterprise Business before transitioning to manage the Consumer Business as Director of Consumer Business, a role she held for 3 years before transitioning to her current role as PR and Customer Care Manager. She has held various leadership roles for the last 8 years.

Sylvia is an accredited executive coach and a Bachelor of Arts in English , Linguistics degree alumni from the Baraton University where she graduated with the highest distinction of First Class Honors.

A mentor and a leader in both her private and professional life, Juliet is the recipient of several awards, which include her appointment to the Presidential Award Scheme, being named one of Kenya’s Top 40 under 40 Women for three consecutive years and a Young Global Leader (YGL) award recipient in 2015.
